Top 7 Things to do in Freetown in April 2022

Updated: Apr 2, 2022

Hey Hey Hey!

Happy new month and Ramadan Kareem to my Muslim community! 🕌

First quarter is down, the second one has begun!

Before I start off this month's #Top7, I want to wish Lent observers a Happy Easter in advance (you're almost there!) and for those of us just starting our holy month - we got this! 💪🏾

Now back to what you all came for - #Top7 Things to do in Freetown this April!

I am changing it up this time. It WILL be in a particular order, henceforth it'll be in chronological order by calendar date of event 😊

The theme will focus on stimulating public awareness and understanding on Autism while paying tribute to the Black Loyalists who sailed to Sierra Leone in 1792 marking 230 years since their arrival.

The exhibition is open to the public (free of cost) on the following days and times:

With Easter around the corner of course there will be an Easter egg hunt near by!

This Easter Egg Hunt by IPC Travel offers arts & crafts, face painting, the obvious egg hunt and more.

For those of us that are forever children at heart, I wonder if I could participate. There is no age stated on the flyer and I am indeed a child...I am someone's child and a child of God 🌚

I'll think about it. But until then you can sign your age appropriate child/children up for:

7. Land That We Love 🇸🇱

April 27 will mark 61 years Sierra Leone has been independent from British colonial rule. Around this time always brings up mix feelings for me and I'm sure others as well. Irrespective of how you feel (which is totally valid) another Independence Day is around the corner whether you like it or not. For some that might entail reading up on Sierra Leonean history, going to the beach or cry bele-ing (Krio: complaining) about the state of affairs - it's another day we will see the country decked in our national colors green, white and blue and another day of reflection one way or the other.

What will you be up to this April?

Me I'll be fasting o. Send some food for your girl.

Until next time 👋🏾

ergo sum cogito,

Mina Bilkis.
